Abyssal Deadspace is an area of isolated space.
It was added to the game in the Into The Abyss expansion that went live on May 29th It was further expanded in the Onslaught expansion that was released on the 13th November It is accessible only with the use of filaments and even then only limited pockets are accessible for a limited time.
The abyssal deadspace is filled with dangerous localized space effects and any ship that ventures away from the stable pocket or stays in for too long will be destroyed by these effects. A new type of space can be accessed using filaments obtained from data sites and from abyssal deadspace. Five tiers of increasing difficulty exists.
When activated, a combat-probable beacon named Abyssal trace is created at your entry location that allows others to await your return from the pocket. An Abyssal Deadspace instance is composed of three pockets. Each pocket must be cleared of enemies for a gate to open to the next pocket. In addition to Triglavians, you may find rogue drones under their command. Drifters without doomsday and rarely with overshield may appear as well, accompanied by sleeper drones, engaged in combat with the Triglavians.
However, no one will help you. You must fight your way out. Within the Abyss, in each pocket is a structure called the "Triglavian Bioadaptive Cache" which has a scant hit points and contains some of the loot for that pocket. There are also "Triglavian Extraction Nodes" which also contain loot.
The deadspace instance is stable for only 20 minutes. If you are still in the pocket after 20 minutes your ship and your pod will be immediately destroyed.
Essentially, you must clear the three pockets and exit with the allocated time, or you will lose both your ship and your pod. The third pocket gate returns you to the location in space you activated the filament from. Further site restrictions: you can not be warped to within the Abyss, nor can you warp out of it. You can not cloak nor deploy a mobile depot. There is no local. Core Probes and Combat probes launched will be removed from space shortly after launching and cannot be recovered.
The Directional Scanner will not work. The map does not work. At the present moment, if a player is in Abyssal Deadspace when server downtime occurs, the player will return to the solar system they entered from. Abyssal deadspace has several enviromental effects that will all apply to both the player ship and to the NPC ships.
These effects will neutralize unprepared ships but they can also be taken advantage of. All effects applied to your ship will be shown in same location as EWAR effects. Each Abyssal Deadspace instance will have a weather effect that spans over all three pockets of the instance.The focus of the changes will mainly be targeting the mechanics of Data Sites. The changes proposed are intended to help re-balance the Data Sites and make them more useful and profitable for players, similar to the changes that came along with the Phoebe release.

Consolidated wormhole sites resource
There have been very few changes to the Ghost Sites since they were introduced in the Rubicon expansion. Hopefully these changes and re-balances will make them once again worthy of players time and risk. By localizing the requirement for all Ghost Site cans to the Data Analyzer module will allow players to specifically target these sites at a far greater suitability.

Centuries ago, various organizations were leading colonization efforts into the black unknown… Some of their vessels vanished, leaving behind massive stores of salvage and data.
This is the story behind the vast reserves of Data and Relic sites to be found within high, low, and nullsec space. Ancient races who have entered Anoikis, the Talocanthe Sleepersthe Takmahland the Yan Jung leave behind remnants of their once-great empires. Within these pockets of space, you find remnants of their technology, often guarded by vigilant Awakened Sleeper Drones. Attempting to claim this wealth of information from the Sleeper drones single-handedly is a risky mission, and many have died attempting this task.
These rare sites can be scanned down using the Core Probe Launcher module, and Core Probe ammunition. I advise always using Sisters Core Probes, as they give increased scan strength.
Essentially, the lower it is, the harder your probes have to work. As an experienced explorer, it is wise to deploy your probes in the smallest default formation, and expand or contract your probes from there.
When you come across something you cannot scan down at the 0. The higher your skills, the easier it is to scan down items with very low signature strengths.
This opens up a mini-game, in which your goal is to find the Core. Different cores have different strengths, your Green Cores are the easiest, with Red Cores being the hardest. Relic sites can be found easily in high security space, with a signature strength of 1.
These relic sites are from various pirate organizations in New Eden, and exist in two classes: crumbling, and looted. In different locations, there will be better cans, which you should hack first. Data sites are also very easy to find in high security space, and have a similar setup to a relic site.
However, they require a Data Analyzer module to hack, and not a Relic Analyzer. In my experience, the Info Shards give the best loot, and you should go for them first. Choosing the right cans to go after becomes increasingly important as you venture into more dangerous space. As far as I have seen, If you are budding explorer and not worried about possible enemies, run them all! You must also note that the Signature Strength is what really defines which one is the best.

You can be lucky to scrape a few k off a data site some times. Low-sec is more mixed but I have a feeling the quantity and quality of the loot in relic sites does over take the data sites somewhat just down to this scaling.

Mostly it's a waste of time. Relic sites will follow soon, except for maybe Sansha with their intact armor plates. I could hoard decryptors and hope the price goes up again but that can take a very long time. With the higher quantities of drops and 6x more ppl doing exploration ppl have farmed already what used to be a half years supply in these two weeks.

Eventually all the non-explorers playing around with it will get bored with the delayed income, work and such with them and go back to ratting and prices will rise again a bit. It's just everyone is out trying something new. CCP will tweak it, players will get bored and eventually like incursions it will become a small niche again. Not any more. In last week's first part of this guide to explorationI explained how new players can get into the lucrative profession and examined one of the most popular scanning techniques. A wide range of hidden sites spawn across EVEjust waiting for a lucky traveller to scan them out.
Tucked away in the depths of space, you'll find hidden asteroid belts, hacking database, archeological relics, salvaging fields and unstable wormholes.
Those looking for riches will be pleased to find cosmic anomalies full of NPCs to kill and dungeon-like military complexes with a chance to drop rare and expensive loot.
In this guide, I look at the different types of site you can find via exploration, what loot you can expect to find in each of them and what kind of challenge you'll face.
Types of site: "Unknown" Much to the dismay of complex-hunters, the "unknown" signature type is shared between deadspace complexes, cosmic anomalies and wormholes. If you find an unknown type cosmic signature, you'll have to keep scanning to see whether it's a deadspace complex or a wormhole. Anomalies are small sites with a concentration of NPCs to kill.
Most have multiple waves that spawn in a single area, and many have the added chance of spawning a rare faction ship. Cosmic anomalies provide a steady stream of ISK but you won't make any big finds in most of them.
Rarely, completing a cosmic anomaly will award you with an escalation in your mission journal. This sends you to a nearby solar system to complete a second stage of the encounter with greater rewards. If you're lucky enough to get several escalations in a row, the end reward can be worth a ton of ISK.
Types of site: Deadspace complex Unknown type cosmic signatures that aren't wormholes will always be military complexes. These are multi-room combat sites similar to high-level combat missions. Unlike missions, however, many contain bosses that can drop expensive deadspace modules as loot. While warping to a site, you might get a pop-up message stating its DED rating out of ten. Sites with a DED rating will almost always have one or more bosses that can drop deadspace modules.
The DED rating also serves as an indicator of how difficult the site will be and the maximum sizes of ship that can enter.
Not all military complexes have a DED rating, so take care when entering a complex you've never been in before.
The NPCs you'll face are usually the same type as can be found in the local asteroid belts, though sometimes others are found. Rogue Drone complexes, for example, can be found all over New Eden. These aren't very popular with most explorers as they provide refinable materials that must be looted instead of direct ISK bounties.Exploration is a great way to make money especially for new players. It can be skilled into very easily and scales up well if you invest time and SP into it.
Many systems in New Eden have hidden sites called Cosmic Signatures.
An explorer will scan the system for certain types of sites and hack the cans at the site for the loot they contain. There are several types of sites that an explorer would be interested in: Relic, Data, Covert and Sleeper. Hacking is done via a minefield-like minigame. This minigame follows the same rules and procedures at all sites, but varies in difficulty and requires different modules to initiate.
The contents of the cans are salvage, BPCs, commodities and various items used for building or inventing advanced ships or modules. There are quite a few topics that are beneficial, even vital to know.
However, you can be successful with even basic knowledge and understanding of what's involved. We have also put a lot of work into making this guide clear and easy to use. The best way to git gud is to get out there and do it - even if you don't know everything yet. And, as always, if you have a question - never not ask. It is vital to know that there are certain systems that are off-limits for members of Brave to explore in. If you are in Brave, please read our standing orders page before heading out to explore!
Although we originally provided fits for all factions, we now strongly suggest the Heron for T1 explo exclusively. Now anyone can fly it regardless of faction, and it's a short train. The slot layout on the heron makes it the most recommended T1 explo frigate. Being able to fit two rangefinding arrays will make life easier for scanning with low sp characters. Alpha characters who are unable to fit a cloak can just remove it.
